A blockchain is a chain of batches (blocks) of transactions. Nodes keep a copy and follow rules for what counts as valid.
Consensus mechanisms (such as proof of work or proof of stake) make it expensive to rewrite history. They do not make every application built on the chain safe.
Smart contracts are programs stored on-chain. They do what their code does, including bugs. Audits reduce risk. They do not eliminate it.
When JC lists a contract address, treat it as a starting point for your own verification, not as a safety certificate.
