Layer 2s

Layer 2 networks process transactions off the base chain and post data or proofs back to it. Designs differ: optimistic rollups, validity rollups, and others.

Fees are often lower. Withdrawal times, upgrade keys, and sequencers vary. 'Cheaper' is not the same as 'safer.'

Many airdrop campaigns have targeted early users of a specific L2. That history also produced waves of fake claim sites.
